A Shulker Box is a Block which was added in Update 1.1.

Types

Shulker Boxes are available in the regular 16 Dye colors and a variant color of purple for the un-dyed version.

Obtaining

Shulker Boxes can be obtained through Crafting, and can be Dyed in the same manner.

Crafting

• 2 Shulker Shells + 1 Chest => 1 Purple Shulker Box
• 1 Dye + 1 Shulker Box => 1 Dyed Shulker Box

Usage

A Shulker Box is used to store items, like a Chest. Unlike a Chest, however, a Shulker Box will retain its stored items if broken and the Player can access them once the Box is placed again.

Trivia

• Shulker Boxes break when pushed by a Piston.
• Shulker Boxes can be stored inside other Containers, but not other Shulker Boxes.
• Shulker Boxes cannot be made into larger boxes by being placed next to each other.
• Renamed Shulker Boxes will display their custom names in the GUI.
• Shulker Boxes can be used a bit like backpacks as the Player can store stacks of items in one and then carry around multiple boxes.
• Hoppers must be attached to the side of Shulker Boxes, as opposed to the top, or else the box will not open.
  • This is due to the fact that Shulker Boxes have an opening animation and therefor require room above them to open.
  • However, Items will still feed into the Shulker Box if the Hopper is attached to the top of the box.
• Bedrock Exclusive: The opening animation is slower than it is on PC/Java.
