Obtaining[]

The Player can obtain Redstone by mining Redstone Ore with an Iron Pickaxe or higher. It can also be obtained by killing Witches or in Dungeon chests. Redstone also naturally spawns in Jungle Temples. As of Update 1.0.4, Redstone can also be Traded for Emeralds. Redstone can also be found in Minecarts with Chests in Abandoned Mineshafts.

Crafting[]

Usage[]

Redstone is mainly used as wiring to create complex mechanisms using other Redstone components. Redstone is also a key Crafting Ingredient and is also used in Brewing to increase the length of a Potion's effect.

Trivia[]

  • Bedrock Exclusive: Unconnected Redstone wire appears in a "plus" sign (+) shape instead of a dot.
  • Bedrock Exclusive: Redstone automatically connects to adjacent inputs.
  • Redstone could not be placed as wiring before Update 0.13.0.
  • The strength of the Redstone signal decreases with length, and can travel a maximum of 15 Blocks before a Redstone Repeater is needed to boost the signal strength.
    • The strength of the signal is reflected in the brightness of the activated wire.
  • Before Update 0.8.0, Minecraft had a Splash Message saying "Redstone Free" because Redstone was not added at the time.
  • Activated Redstone wire emits red particles.
  • Activated Redstone can ignite TNT.
