Pufferfish is a type of Food that was added in Update 0.11.0.

Obtaining[]

Pufferfish can be obtained by Fishing.

Brewing[]

1 Pufferfish + 1-3 Awkward Potion => 1-3 Potions Of Water Breathing

Usage[]

Pufferfish are the second rarest catch from Fishing, the first rarest being the Clownfish. After Update 0.12.1, it can be used for Brewing, as well as feeding/taming an Ocelot (this isn't recommended though considering the rarity of pufferfish). Pufferfish cannot be cooked, similar to Clownfish. Even when eaten, it does not restore much Hunger, and as the effect is Hunger III, the Player's hunger will not go up, even if he/she has a full hunger bar.

Trivia[]

In real life, eating a Pufferfish will cause nausea, as well as vomiting and most likely death. (If it still has the poison inside or still raw.)
- Eating a Pufferfish is the only natural way to get the Nausea Status Effects
- The only other way is to use the /effect Command.
Pufferfish can actually kill the Player, poisoning him/her until they reach half a heart, and then emptying their Hunger bar, which in Hard Mode is fatal.
Before Update 0.12.1, Pufferfish were one of the most useless Items in Minecraft.
- It is also the most dangerous food in Minecraft.
- Pufferfish are one of the five foods in Minecraft that can poison the Player, the others being Spider Eyes, Rotten Flesh, Poisonous Potato and Raw Chicken.
