Mycelium is a Block that was added in Update 0.9.0.
Obtaining[]
Mycelium as a Block can only be obtained by using a Tool Enchanted with Silk Touch.
Usage[]
Mushrooms can be planted on Mycelium regardless of the light level. This is the sole functional use of the block.
Spreading[]
Mycelium will take over Dirt, Grass, and Grass Paths next to them. It will also destroy any Flowers or crops growing on Blocks when it takes them over. Pumpkins and Melons can also not grow on Mycelium.
Stopping the Spread[]
The only way to stop Mycelium from spreading to other parts of the Player's world is to surround an area of Mycelium with a non-Dirt Block, including beneath the Mycelium to stop it from burrowing under the barrier.
Oceans are natural barriers since Mycelium cannot traverse through Water.
Trivia[]
- Mycelium cannot be tilled into a Farmland Block.
- Mycelium emits particles similar to those underwater and near The Void.
- The only Mob that can spawn on Mycelium is the passive Mooshroom, which is a source of Food and Leather.
