Update 0.5.0 |
A Melon is a type of Food that was added in Update 0.5.0.
Obtaining[]
Before Update 0.9.0, Melons could only be obtained by farming the Melon Seeds dropped by the Nether Reactor, but since then, Melon Blocks can be found growing in Jungle Biomes. As of Update 1.0.4, it can also be Traded for Emeralds.
Farming[]
Melon Farming is similar to Pumpkin farming, as the stem itself does not yield the Melon, but the block is formed next to the stem when it is ready. A Melon can thus grow in any of the four adjacent squares to the stem.
Crafting[]
- 9 Melon Slices => 1 Melon Block
- 1 Melon Slice => 1 Melon Seeds
Usage[]
A Melon Block can't be eaten directly by the Player. It first has to be placed, and then broken before the Player can eat the 3-7 Melon Slices. This also indicates that it is an expensive way of storing Melon Slices, since 9 Slices is used to craft a single Melon Block.
As such, the main usage is as an intermediate block needed before farming from Melon Seeds, or before it is broken into Melon Slices.
Trivia[]
- The fastest Tool to break it is a Sword.
- However it will use two of its durability points.
- Shearing a melon block yields 9 melon slices, opposed to 3-7 when done otherwise.
