Magma Cubes (AKA Nether Slimes) are Hostile Mobs that were added in Update 0.11.0.

Spawning

Magma Cubes spawn in the Nether as of Update 0.12.1 as the Nether equivalent of Slimes.

Behavior

Magma Cubes move by hopping, and attack Players within a 16-Block radius by jumping at them. They are immune to Fire damage, and they also have a natural Armor rating. But unlike Slimes, the smallest Magma Cubes can harm the Player, making them very dangerous to fight.

Combat

They can be defeated easily using a high tier Sword, like a Diamond or Iron Sword, in about 4-5 hits.

Trivia

• Large Magma Cubes can jump over four Block high structures, including Fences.
• Magma Cubes do not take damage from Water.
• Magma Cubes do not take fall damage.
• Magma Cubes have sounds when they jump and when they are attacked.
• When Magma Cubes jump, they look like springs and have a 'magma core' inside their body.
• They can damage the Player even during their death animation.
• Magma Cubes could not break into smaller Magma Cubes until Update 0.12.1.
