Magma Blocks are Blocks that were added in Update 1.1.3.
Obtaining[]
Magma Blocks can be found naturally in between Y levels 23 and 37 in the Nether. They generate in veins similar to Dirt in the Overworld, and with a similar frequency as Andesite. They can also be Crafted.
After Update 1.5, Magma Blocks will generate naturally on the ocean floor, causing Bubble Columns.

- 4 Magma Cream => 1 Magma Block
Usage[]
Magma Blocks damage living entities standing on top of them, dealing of damage every tick. Damage taken is considered Fire damage, and is reduced by Armor, the Resistance and Fire Resistance Status Effects, and the Protection and Fire Protection Enchantments.
After Update 1.3, Magma Blocks can be used to sink entities into water which is useful for mob farming.
Trivia[]
- Magma Blocks cannot be used for compact storage of Magma Cream, as the Player cannot Craft them back into Magma Cream.
- When standing on a Magma Block, Diamond Armor will break in 265 seconds, or approximately 4.5 minutes.
- When set on Fire, Magma Blocks burn infinitely, like Netherrack.
- Magma Blocks have a slight glow on them.
- When sneaking on Magma Blocks, the Player will not take damage.
- If the Player is wearing Armor Enchanted with Frost Walker or Fire Resistance, he/she will not take damage while walking on it.
- The death message that occurs if the Player dies while standing on Magma Blocks is [player] discovered floor was lava.
