Fish are a type of Food that were added in Update 0.11.0. They can be cooked in a Furnace.
Obtaining[]
Fish are mainly obtained via Fishing. As of Update 1.0.4, Fish can also be Traded using Emeralds.
Types[]
- Raw Fish – Most common type. It can be cooked in furnaces.
- Raw Salmon – Less common than normal fish, can also be cooked and restores more Hunger.
- Clownfish – Very rare fish. Cannot be cooked, but does restore some hunger.
- Pufferfish – Rare fish. Poisons the Player since Update 0.12.1, and is used to create a Potion of Water Breathing.
Trivia[]
- Notch once stated that Fish were going to be added as Mobs, but he had limited time to code them in and ended up adding them as Food.
- After Update 1.3, Fish will be added as Mobs.
- Fish were going to be added in Update 0.9.0, but were delayed, due to bugs and fishing mechanics not implemented at the time.
- Fish can be used to tame Ocelots as of Update 0.12.1.
- Fish can be used to feed Wolves as of Update 0.15.6.
- After Update 1.3, Fish can be picked up in a bucket and placed back down. When this is performed on the fish, it will no longer be able to despawn.
