Update 0.4.0 |
Farmland is a Block on which Seeds can be planted and grown. It was added in Update 0.4.0.
Obtaining[]
Farmland is produced by tilling a Grass Block, Grass Path, or Dirt block with a Hoe.
Usage[]
Farmland is required to grow the six crops currently in Minecraft; Wheat, Melon, Pumpkin, Potato, Carrot, and Beetroot. Melon and Pumpkin blocks don't need to be on farmland, however, their seeds do.
Hydration[]
Farmland turns hydrated when it is placed within a 4 block range of a Water source. However, if not hydrated, it will turn back into normal dirt.
Crops can be grown on hydrated farmland, and if it becomes dehydrated, the crop will break.
Trivia[]
- If the Player or a Mob jumps onto a farmland block, the block turns into dirt and any crop growing on it will be harvested.
- In Update 0.9.0, going further than 20,000 blocks in any direction would cause all blocks to turn into farmland with growing Wheat Seeds.
- This was fixed in Update 0.9.4.
- When farmland is hydrated, the top part of the block will be darker in color.
- Flowers can be planted on top of farmland.
- Farmland can be naturally found in Villages.
- Wheat Seeds can grow in both hydrated and dehydrated farmland.
- However, planting it on dehydrated farmland will take longer to grow than hydrated farmland.
