Emerald Ore is a Block added in Update 0.9.0.
Obtaining[]
The Emerald Ore can be mined using an Iron Pickaxe or a Diamond Pickaxe, and when mined it drops a single Emerald. This ore is only available in the Extreme Hills Biome.
Smelting[]
Note: Emerald Ore can only be smelted if obtained with Silk Touch. In normal circumstances, Emerald Ore drops emeralds when mined.
- 1 Emerald Ore + Any Fuel => 1 Emerald
Usage[]
When Emerald Ore is mined, it yields one Emerald. The amount can be increased by mining the Ore with a Fortune-Enchanted Pickaxe.
Trivia[]
- Emerald Ore is one of the rarest ores, typically found in Veins of one, but sometimes as high as two or three.
- The texture of Emerald Ore is one of the three ores that do not follow the basic format, the others being Lapis Lazuli Ore and Nether Quartz Ore.
- Emerald Ore was added in the earlier versions of Minecraft, but was removed because it had no use at the time.
- It can be difficult to find Emerald Ore in certain Old Worlds as Extreme Hill Biomes may not generate in them.
- Bug: In Update 0.11.0 and Update 0.12.1 Stone Pickaxes could mine Emerald Ore, but this has been since fixed.
- Emerald Ore was supposed to be Ruby Ore, but was changed after Dinnerbone's red/green color-blindness.
