Update 0.8.0 |
Cobwebs are Blocks added to Minecraft in Update 0.8.0 for Creative and became obtainable in Survival in Update 0.9.0.
Uses[]
Cobwebs slow down any entities, including the Player, caught in them, making them useful for making traps and barriers. They can also be used to contain Water and Lava.
Obtaining[]
Cobwebs cannot be obtained using hands; they can only be obtained by using a Sword or Shears. However, if gathered using these tools normally, they will just drop String. Cobwebs themselves can only be obtained by breaking them using Shears with a Silk Touch Enchantment.
Trivia[]
- As of Update 0.15.0, flying through Cobwebs does not slow the Player down.
- Cobwebs are mined much faster with a Sword.
- However, even though it's fastest, it is still an un-intended use for Swords, so the Sword will lose two durability points.
- When Items are dropped on Cobwebs, they will fall slower, just like entities.
- If Gravel or Sand falls on Cobweb, it will fall through slowly, because it is an entity when falling, then after 5 seconds, it will despawn.
- Both Spiders and Cave Spiders are not slowed down by Cobwebs.
- This makes them highly dangerous in Mineshafts.
- As of Update 0.15.0, Cobwebs can be found in Zombie Villages.
