Barrels are Blocks that were added in Update 1.9.
Obtaining[]
Barrels can currently only be obtained in the creative inventory with the Experimental Gameplay toggle enabled. In Update 1.10, Barrels will be able to be obtained by crafting them or finding them in Villages.

2 Sticks + 1 Stone Slab + 2 Wooden Planks = 1 Grindstone
Usage[]
Barrels currently have no functionality. In Update 1.11, they will act as a storage item.
Trivia[]
Barrels can be opened in one-block spaces, although Chests can’t.
