I think it's due time to have a discussion on why we have this wiki, and what we want out of it. Why does this wiki have the right of life?
By presenting what each of us think, we might achieve a common goal, and then be able to re-focus the efforts in order to revive it.
We can email the Youtubers, and they can advertise our wiki. Additionally, Dblcut can pay them money to do it.
I've now completed some initiatives I've been contemplating on doing for some time now. I think most of them are completed, but if some changes are not done please do complete them.
What I've done is the following:
New | New code | Should replace this code |
---|---|---|
Bug: | {{bug}}
| <code><span style="color:red">Bug:</span> |
Bedrock Exclusive: | {{BedrockExclusive}}
| <code><span style="color:green">Version Exclusive:</span> |
Easter Egg: | {{EasterEgg}}
| <code><span style="color:red">Easter Egg:</span> |
something | {{Key|something}}
| <span style="color:black">{{Key|something}}</span>
|
Minecraft | {{mc}}
| ''[[Minecraft Pocket Edition]]''
|
Minecraft Java Edition | {{mc|java}}
| in Minecraft PC edition |
Minecraft Java Edition 1.9 | {{mc|java}}{{supjoin| |1.9}}
| in Minecraft PC edition version 1.9 |
For the last three , see Template:mc for more examples.
I've also created Template:supjoin which I'm intending to use for stuff like "Only java, console" or "Not in bedrock". Code for these two examples are {{supjoin||java|console}}
and {{supjoin|Not in|bedrock}}
. There might some minor changes to this template, before I start using it.
Mojang (or Minecraft Studios) has recently changed all their links to the changelogs. Before we found all changelogs from this common page: https://feedback.minecraft.net/knowledgebase/topics/126030-changelogs, and an example changelog link could be: https://feedback.minecraft.net/knowledgebase/articles/1848862-minecraft-beta-1-2-14-3.
This has now changed to two start pages:
- Beta Information and Changelogs: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/sections/360001185332-Beta-Information-and-Changelogs
- Release Changelogs: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/sections/360001186971-Release-Changelogs
The correct link to the changelog from earlier example is now: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360004124912-Minecraft-Beta-1-2-14-3
I've tried changing most of the update (and beta) pages to use the new links, but if you come across dead links, try to use the links above to correct the links. Or make a note of the page with the link on this page, so we can help each other finding the new link.
Also note, that I'm having trouble locating the new pages for Marketplace Releases, which might have been included in other changelogs.
tl;dr: If you encounter a link to https://feedback.minecraft.net with links having knowledgebase/articles/####, they need to be changed to hc/en-us/articles/#### (where the number has changed...)
User:Harry1596 asks:
so I've seen a couple videos on people using the command blocks to make doors that only open when a certain item is at a certain coordinate using the command "clear @p[x,y,z,r] tripwire_hook 0 0" of course x,y,z and r are replaced with coordinates and a radius of that coordinate, and tripwire hook is the item they want the command block to detect. In the videos this works, but when I do it, the "previous output" box seen after tapping on the command block says "syntax error: unexpected "32": at "clear @p[>>32<<,79,39,2]"those are my coordinates. for some reason it has an issue with my X value. I even tried typing in the same coordinates as they did in the video but it still came up with the same error message. anyone have any idea why its not working or what I could do to fix it?
Cave spiders ( found in mineshafts ) normally attack as soon as they see you. Recently they haven't always been doing this. One ran away from me, another one ignored me for awhile before attacking. Anyone else seen this? Is it a bug or a new featur, I wonder?
I'm trying to create an adventure map that uses the /playsound command, but I can't seem to find any list that has every sound that I'm looking for. The only sound I can get to work right now is mob.endermen.death. Every list I find online is for PC, and every sound I try from those lists doesn't work. Any links to websites or just general help as to what I should try is appreciated.
Over time guys have been changing trivia text, related to flying mobs and mobs applying status effects, back and forth with slight changes on whether the new mobs should be included or not. This has changed an extremely slow form of edit warring, which I'm hoping to stop with the following change (which I've already applied).
I've added two templates:
- The Template:StatusEffectMobText which has the following text: Mobs which can apply status effects on the Player include (listed in order of addition to Minecraft): Cave Spiders, Wither Skeletons, Witchs, Strays, Husks, Withers, Elder Guardians, and Shulkers.
- The Template:FlyingMobText which has the following text: The mobs which can fly include (listed in order of addition to Minecraft): Bats, Ghasts, Blazes, Withers, Ender Dragons, Vexes, and Parrots.
If new mobs come along which fly or apply status effects, please change the corresponding template, and add *{{FlyingMobText}}
or *{{StatusEffectMobText}}
to the Trivia section.
Note that since these are templates, the link to the current page will not be included. This means that on the Wither page, it'll not link to Wither, as it shouldn't do.
Just recently Lucky Find became the third badge in my collection (I kid you not, third) and I was wondering who else has it and who wants it.
Hey there everybody!
A few months ago, Holroy suggested a plan for Tutorials. Sadly it never got going but in recent times I decided to go ahead with the plan, and now we have a final structure for implementing this huge project.
Let's go ahead and answer some questions about Tutorials then!
What are Tutorials?
Tutorials are essentially guides for the Users of our Wiki to use. These Tutorials will help in gameplay progression and will be made by experts on various topics.
Who will make Tutorials?
We will allow only selected users on the Wiki to create tutorials. Authorized users will be given a JS Tag named "Tutor". You may sign up for this project by posting a comment below. More info on that later...
Where will these Tutorials be?
After a request to Fandom Staff, I had a new namespace created titled, "Tutorials". It is a part of the mainspace directly, and it will be visible in the "Recent Wiki Activity" section on the right rail. This is for easy access.
Can I suggest changes?
You certainly can. On the talk pages of the Tutorial pages, you can post your suggestions and the author, or a Staff member will review them and if they are valid,
Now, the question arises, How do I sign up?
It is a simple process. Below in a comment, specify:
- Which topics (in Minecraft) you are good at
- Which stage of gameplay you are currently on
- Which topics (on the About Tutorials Page) you think you can make Tutorials on.
Once this is done, admins will approve or reject your proposal. Please note we are only looking for experienced players who have impeccable grammar. So unless you think you are a "professional" at the game, do not apply. A reasonable amount of mainspace edits won't hurt your case either.
We're taking applications for 2 days, so don't miss out on this chance!
Thank you, and peace! :)

Could someone explain why there is a change of the old templates used on pages, into the new navboxes?
I thought it was related to replacing the multitude of templates, with a few larger navboxes, but nowadays it seems like there is a replacement of a random old template with a similar navbox. Is there any point in doing that?
Could we please have a discussion on why the new NavBoxes, and that the vision is related to these?
